Abstract

|
Three cases of paroxysmal tachycardia in children which have been obseved in past five years were presented and reviewed. All of them were male and were brought to the hospital with symptoms of heart failure. The intervals between the estimated onset of the attack and the time when they were brought to the hospital were at least 4, 5, and 9 days respectively. The chief complaints by their parents were indigestion¢¥, tachypnea, puffy face and vomiting. All of them had hepatomegaly and cardiomegaly. One of them had Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. Two patients had recurrence. In each attack they responded to digitalization. Reflex stimulation of the vagus nerve was attempted in six occasions and was successful only in one occasion.
